New in Version 2.0
With the latest v2.0 release, the migration kit is designed to run on Linux/x86 systems for analyzing code. While the tools run on x86 platforms they are designed so that the target server deployment can be x86, POWER, or System z platforms. Other new features include:
  1. All Tools: Run on Linux
  2. Endian Tool: Now easier to use
  3. Source Code Tool:
    • Single file mode (formerly only did a whole directory at a time)
    • Configurable editor
  4. Shell Script Tool:
    • Added support for checking Makefiles
    • Batch Mode (v1 only did one script at a time)
    • GUI (v1 was only command line)
    • Configurable editor
ISVs who use the migration kit to port an application from Solaris to Linux should also take advantage of IBM’s Chiphopper program to certify their applications to the Linux LSB and across all IBM Systems with a single code base. The migration kit contains three software tools that check the following:
  • C and C++ source code scanning tool
  • Shell script and makefile scanning tool
  • Endian byte order check tool
